Not the least hard thing to bear when they go from us, these quiet friends, is that they carry away with thme so many years of our own lives. - John Galsworthy

thank you so much for your comment on my blog (and i can't believe you understood what i wrote with google translator, i tried and just had to laugh what came out, weird) - your blog is such a "new world" for me and i enjoy reading every single post.thank you. maria
ReplyDeleteMaria.... my heart melts reading this. Thank you!!!
DeleteThose moments are so hard, aren't they? What a sweet smile on your pup.
ReplyDeleteKatie... yes indeed. But I'm thrilled that I have had all the moments in between. :)
DeleteI never understood your then moment until we lost our first dog Porscha - wow! Having lived in a pet free world until Porscha, her passing made me realize what people talk about when they lose a pet. Porscha passed January of 2010, and then our dog Duke passed in 2011 in our arms. Such hard times, but they are still with us, like you said, in our hearts.
ReplyDeleteOur third dog Shelby is still running around chasing Reece, but she misses the other two a lot. We actually find her sometimes laying the spot were they are buried.
Kim, it's wonderous how these four-leggeds find their way into our hearts and plant their roots deep. How sweet that Shelby still lays with Porscha and Duke.
DeleteLooks like such a beautiful soul.
ReplyDeleteAmber,
DeleteHe really was. Everyone who met him liked him. Even people who didn't like dogs and landlords that refused to allow dogs in their rentals (they always changed their mind!)
Wow...thanks you for sharing your beautiful dog with us. 17 1/2 years is a long time! You will definitely always have those memories :-)
ReplyDeleteI will join up with this post someday soon...I just have to get my act together!
I look forward to you joining when the time is right! and yes, our Sid was not an old dog, not an elderly dog, not a geriatric dog, but an ancient dog! So often during his long life people would guess his age and be off by oh, 4,5, 6, or 7 years. One day we were at the park and a guy asked how old he was. "seven" i said. "months?" he asked. His heart was as young as could be!! :)
DeleteMissing Sid, thinking of purple kercheif-covered paws and sending love.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen. That sure was a fun trip we had together. His poor feet torn up so bad from the hot Utah rocks. And to think, I blamed nya for digging up our latrine. Sid was a good dog, but he was a poop eater! ha ha ha
DeleteOh Sid. The sweetest, smelliest dog i ever did know. Didn't realize it'd already been a year. What a good friend he was.
ReplyDeleteI remember when you brought a gift for sid.... incense! :)
DeletePets do enrich our lives and leave such a hole when they are gone. I'm glad you were able to have him for so long!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Never did I imagine that I would have that love in my life for so long. :)
